CVS working on tobacco-free pharmacy network
October 21, 2014
CVS Health is developing for its pharmacy benefits management clients a network of pharmacies that don’t sell tobacco products.
Tobacco use is the number one cause of preventable death in the United States and kills 480,000 Americans each year. The vast majority of smokers start as kids. Retailers can help save lives and create a tobacco-free generation by choosing not to sell tobacco products. Shoppers can encourage them by choosing to shop tobacco-free.
Tobacco use kills 480,000 Americans every year – more than 1,300 people every day.
Smoking kills more people than alcohol, AIDS, car accidents, illegal drugs, murders and suicides combined.
Every day, more than 2,800 U.S. kids try their first cigarette – that’s more than one million kids who take their first puff each year.
